Starting on March 19, 2025, the second season of successful Austrian-German thriller series Woman of the Dead will be streaming on Netflix. Based on the bestseller trilogy by multiple award-winning mystery novel author Bernhard Aichner, the show stars Anna Maria Mühe. The first season of six-episode series Woman of the Dead was listed in the global top 10 of non-English speaking series for three weeks.

Under the direction of Daniel Geronimo Prochaska (Ferdinand von Schirach – Glauben, Das schaurige Haus), alongside Anna Maria Mühe as undertaker Blum, there are many other actors, including Yousef Sweid, Robert Palfrader, Dominic Marcus Singer, Peter Kurth, Lucas Gregorowicz,  Michou Friesz, Britta Hammelstein, Gerhard Liebmann, Sabine Timoteo, Emilia Pieske, Tristán López and Hayal Kaya.

Producers Thomas Hroch and Gerald Podgornig (Mona Film Streaming), as well as Benito Mueller and Wolfgang Mueller (Barry Films), are responsible for the project in co-production with SquareOne Productions (producer: Al Munteanu) for Netflix and ORF. In addition to Vienna and Lower Austria, the cast and crew returned to the mountain landscape of Tyrol to film parts of the series.

Starting February 24, 2025, ORF 1 will air two of the six new episodes back to back each week on Mondays at 8:15 p.m. The show will be available for streaming worldwide on Netflix starting on March 19, 2025.

About Woman of the Dead

Blum's past catches up with her: Body parts of the man she killed who is presumed missing, Edwin Schönborn, show up in the coffin of an exhumed body. Blum is once again targeted by the police and has to spend a night in jail, where her worst nightmare comes true: Someone kidnaps her daughter, Nela! In exchange for her daughter, Blum must release a video—one that she doesn't even have. Running from the police and searching for the video, Blum will do anything to save her daughter.
