04 March 2024São Paulo, March 4, 2024 - How did the fire happen? This is one of the questions raised in the trailer for From Dreams to Tragedy: The Fire That Shook Brazilian Football, released today by Netflix. In the trailer, the victims' relatives, along with UOL journalists who investigated the tragedy, discuss the inquiry into what happened at the Flamengo training center in 2019.
Over three episodes, the Netflix documentary series, premiering on March 14, shows how the dream of playing for a major football club impacted entire families. The athletes' parents didn't know about the youngsters' substandard housing and believed their children were safe. Still awaiting answers today, they become overwhelmed with emotion as Flamengo fan clubs pay tribute to the victims of one of football's major tragedies.
Featuring well-known personalities such as Zico and Vanderlei Luxemburgo, the show was produced by A Fábrica. Based on an original idea from UOL, and developed by Pedro Asbeg, Renato Fagundes, and UOL, it was directed by Pedro Asbeg.
