Berlin, December 4, 2024 – The second season of THE EMPRESS launched on November 22 on Netflix and has been a success both nationally and internationally ever since. In its first week alone, the royal drama series climbed to the topof the Netflix charts with 6.7 million views. In 84 countries, Season 2 of The Empress ranks in the Top 10 — and in 10 countries, it has secured the number one position, including Germany and Austria, as well as France, Portugal, Chile, and Argentina. Meanwhile, Season 1 has also made a comeback to the Top 10, reaching an impressive 3 million views and securing the third spot among non-English TV shows.
Katharina Eyssen once again served as the showrunner for the second Season of the successful series, sharing creative responsibility with Executive Producer Robert Eyssen. The production was once again handled by Sommerhaus Serien GmbH, led by executive Producers Jochen Laube and Fabian Maubach. Scarlett Lacey returned as an Executive Producer, while Lars Gmehling took on the role of co-executive producer. This season was directed by Barbara Ott and Maximilian Erlenwein, with filming took place in Bavaria, the Czech Republic, and Italy.

The first season of the historical series The Empress, created by showrunner Katharina Eyssen and directed by Katrin Gebbe and Florian Cossen, topped the global rankings for non-English language series after its spectacular debut on Netflix in September 2022. It also won the International Emmy® Award for Best Drama Series in 2023.
Shortly before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the international TV series The Net – Game on the Edge, directed by Rick Ostermann, premiered, delving into the mafia-like dealings behind football. In early December 2022, a new collaboration with Thomas Stuber, Die stillen Trabanten, was released in cinemas. Currently, two more episodes of The Barcelona Crime (directed by Andreas Kleinert), Burhan Qurbani's new feature film kein Tier. so wild.
