04 October 2026~Sumukhi Suresh brings her unfiltered comedy on health, singlehood, resilience, and tackling taboos with humour. ~
Netflix has announced the premiere date of Sumukhi Suresh's first Netflix stand-up special, Hoemonal, on October 14. After travelling across and outside India, including a run at the Edinburgh Fringe, the special turns the chaos of being a woman in her 30s — from hormonal changes to singlehood to questions about motherhood — into a sharp, candid, and deeply entertaining watch.
Your wise 30s come with unsolicited advice, changing priorities, societal pressure, and sometimes, a body that has other plans. Drawing from her own experiences ranging from dating, relationships, body image, and the questions around motherhood, Sumukhi finds the funny in the awkward, messy, and rarely spoken-about parts of navigating adulthood as a woman. It is deeply personal and unfiltered, yet so relatable that women watching will likely see a bit of themselves in it. For everyone else, it is an invitation to laugh at the wonderfully messy business of being human.
Speaking about Hoemonal coming to Netflix, Sumukhi Suresh says, “When I wrote Hoemonal in 2021, all I wanted was to be my honest self on stage and accept whatever response I got from the audience. Never expected the response to be laughter along with anger, tears, and truckloads of hugs. I felt like I performed a RomCom on stage. As I toured with the show, I understood that being Hoemonal is not my isolated story but everyone’s experience. Being conservatively raised and now, to date, like a character from a sitcom, or to flirt and use a pick-up line on a man when we have grown up being told not to seek attention; all while dealing with hormones having a rave party inside our bodies, Hoemonal is my chaotic experience of a female life.”
“And now to know that this extremely personal piece is going to be on Netflix? I am crying, and it’s not PMS (or maybe it is. Let me check). Can’t wait for this to be everyone’s comfort watch while they curl up with an ice cream, or make it a date night with their girlfriend, or just watch on their own and hard relate.” she added.
With this comedy special, expect uncomfortable truths, unexpected punchlines, and the kind of moments that make you wonder whether you should laugh, nod in agreement, or do both.
Hoemonal premieres October 14, only on Netflix.
