'Stranded with My Mother-in-Law' is Back to Shake Up The End of the Year! Watch the Trailer and Meet the Contestants for Season Three, Coming to Netflix December 3

São Paulo, November 17, 2025 — The end of the year is when people “air their dirty laundry” and try to repair challenging relationships. To give mothers-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and children a little nudge, Netflix has announced that the third season of Stranded with My Mother-in-Law is coming in December. The first four episodes drop December 3, followed by four more episodes on December 10, with a special bonus episode available as of December 17 👀.

Hosted by Fernanda Souza, with Shenia Karlsson as the mediator, the hit reality series has just unveiled its trailer and official poster. The participants, representing the six families selected for this season, have also been announced — a detailed description of each family can be found below.

The trailer gives a bittersweet taste of what to expect for the new season, as the contestants experience chaos, quarrels and trials. The show returns with brand-new challenges, as well as plenty of unexpected twists and raw emotions, proving that when mothers-in-law and sons- or daughters-in-law are forced to live under the same roof (or rather, on the same island), anything can happen. They might even set their feuds aside and team up to go after the R$500,000 prize.

As one of this season’s innovations, more than 200 mothers-in-law from across Brazil gathered to select the six women who would take center stage. At the event, to demonstrate that they were ready to take on the show, the candidates took part in immersive experiences and interactive tasks inspired by last season’s challenges. The mother-in-laws' convention will be featured in an episode in the new season.

Season two of Netflix Brazil’s original reality series went straight to Brazil’s Top 10 and stayed there for the following three weeks. The episodes also reached number 5 on Netflix’s global list of non-English-language titles, boosted by the show’s popularity in Brazil and Portugal.

Produced by Floresta, the third season of Stranded with My Mother-in-Law arrives on Netflix in two parts — the first four episodes premiere on December 3, followed by the final four on December 10, plus a special episode on December 17.

Meet the families taking part:

THE CHAGAS FAMILY

The Chagas family is made up of Rio natives Douglas Chagas, a digital influencer, his wife Thainá Wenceslau, a pastry chef, and Douglas’s retired mother, Rozanda Chagas. Thainá and Rozanda’s relationship started out harmonious, but it soured after Thainá’s unexpected pregnancy derailed Douglas’s plans to pursue a military career. For Rozanda, her son’s decision to give up his dream of joining Brazil's Air Force was a painful blow, especially since she had been invested in his future since he was a child. Thainá’s decision to stop working and devote herself fully to raising their son only intensified the tension within the family.

THE CRUZ FAMILY

The Cruz family comprises Heder Rolin, a personal trainer from Santos, São Paulo, his wife Giovanna Mari, a singer, and Heder’s mother, Sarah Cruz, a volleyball player. A jiu-jitsu instructor with a fierce competitive streak, Heder has earned the nickname "Despicable Me" (a reference to the animated film) among his students — a reputation that matches his blunt, no-nonsense personality. He and Giovanna have been married for years, weathering many intense challenges, and their partnership has always held strong. Now they’re facing a new, soap-opera-worthy test — living under the same roof as Sarah.

THE LOPES FAMILY

Hailing from Bahia, the Lopes family is made up of Ícaro Lopes, an electrician and musician, Jéssica Souza, a personal trainer, and Ícaro’s mother, Ivana Lopes, a cook. Jéssica’s arrival only heightened the tension already simmering between mother and son — tensions rooted in unresolved issues from the past. Strong-willed Jéssica tends to clash with her dramatic mother-in-law, as Ivana sees her daughter-in-law as controlling and stuck-up; while to Jéssica, Ivana comes across as defensive and unwilling to talk things through. The big question is, how will these three manage life together, especially considering the couple doesn’t even live together yet?

THE MACHADO FAMILY

Hailing from Minas Gerais, the Machado family includes entrepreneurs Isadora Machado and Gabriel Silva, along with Isadora’s mother, Marihely Machado, also a businesswoman. Marihely is the kind of mother-in-law Gabriel goes out of his way to avoid, though she insists on being nearby. She’s convinced her meddling is always helpful, even when nobody asked her for anything. Much to the couple’s relief, she currently lives far away, but that may be about to change — Marihely plans to move closer, leaving them worried they’ll lose their peace and quiet. In Gabriel's eyes, his mother-in-law is utterly eccentric, and even Isadora partly agrees.

THE MISQUITA FAMILY

Rio de Janeiro's Misquita family includes Leonardo Misquita, a sales coordinator, his husband Juliano Faller, a pastry chef, and Leonardo’s mother, Lina Misquita, who works as a caregiver. Their home life is shaped by over-the-top maternal affection, conflict, and a healthy dose of boundary-setting. Before Juliano came into Leonardo’s life, Lina had a key to her son’s place and would come and go as she pleased. But everything changed when her son-in-law made it clear that their home had a routine and limits. The shift deeply bothers Lina, who feels she’s lost not only the key, but also part of her connection with her son.

THE ROCHA FAMILY

The Rocha family, from the city of Rio de Janeiro, includes Nathalia Rocha, a financial manager, her husband Diego Rodrigues, a paid-media manager, and Nathalia’s mother, Mônica Rocha, an education director. Recently widowed, Mônica is seen by everyone, including her own daughter, as narcissistic, dramatic, and constantly playing the victim. Nathalia has run out of patience with her mother, and even Diego, who has always tried to mediate between the two, has started to lose his temper with his mother-in-law. Convinced that he’s two-faced, saying one thing to her face and another behind her back, Mônica sees the show as a chance to expose him to the world.
