'Rainbow' Official Trailer Debut

We are pleased to unveil the official trailer for Rainbow, the new film by Paco León, which will have its global premiere on September 18 at the Velódromo in the 70th edition of San Sebastián International Film Festival. Following this screening, the film will be released in theaters on September 23 and on Netflix worldwide on September 30.

Produced by Telecinco Cinema in collaboration with Los amigos de Dorothy AIE and with the participation of Andy Joke and Colosé Producciones,Rainbowis an ambitious projectcompleted under the guidance of producer Sandra Hermida, who received Goya awards for Best Production Direction for The Orphanage, The Impossible and A Monster Calls, and for Best Documentary for Garbo: The Spy. 

As a director, Paco León has always worked hand in hand with Sandra Hermida, who produced his second film, Carmina y amén, in 2014 and his highly successful debut in TV fiction, Arde Madrid, in 2018. Sandra Hermida has also produced films such as Way Down, Marrowbone, The Invisible Guest, Lullaby and upcoming Society of The Snow (La sociedad de la nieve),and series such as The Girl in The Mirror, recently released on Netflix, The Innocent, and Fácil, which will premiere in 2022. 

The eclectic ensemble cast of Rainbowis headed by the singer Dora – on her debut as an actress–, the rapper and actor Ayax Pedrosa, the Nigerian artist and cultural agitator Wekaforé Jibril (Spirit Disco), and other more established figures such as Carmen Maura,Carmen Machi, and Luis Bermejo. The line up is completed by Hovik Keuchkerian, Samantha Hudson, Carmina Barrios, and Soraya Yasmin, with Rossy de Palma and Ester Expósito.

The script of Rainbow was co-written by Paco León and Javier Gullón. The film blends together different artistic disciplines (dance, fashion, visual arts, music) to offer an original and groundbreaking take on the initiation journey of a teenager in a free adaptation of the literary classic The Wizard ofOz. The technical team also includes Begoña Muñoz Corcuera (production director), Marc Miró (director of cinematography), Idoia Esteban (art director), Carolina Galiana (custom design), Rubén Mármol (makeup and hairstyling), Ana Álvarez-Ossorio (film editing), and Jorge Adrados (sound recording). The music production is carefully coordinated and led by Diego Postigo

Synopsis  Dora is a teenager bursting with energy and an extraordinary talent for music. After a heated argument with her father on her birthday, Dora leaves her home in the company of her dog Totó and sets off on a journey in search of her mother, who she has never met because she disappeared when she was a baby. On her journey she makes new friends with whom she embarks on a road trip to Capital City, but she also faces dangerous enemies who try to prevent her from uncovering the mysteries of her past. However, Dora's vitality and magic help her to reach the end of her journey, which is the beginning of another.
