19 August 2025São Paulo, August 19, 2025 - He’s chaotic, clever, has a huge heart, four paws, and is arriving on Netflix in a moving story. The film Caramelo, starring Rafael Vitti and the canine star Amendoim, has just received its premiere date: October 8. Netflix has also revealed the main poster for the feature and a video preview that conveys love and affection in this drama about the power some encounters have to transform our lives.
In the film, Pedro (Rafael Vitti) is a determined chef who is about to fulfill his dream of running a restaurant when an unexpected diagnosis turns everything upside down. With the help of an adorable caramel mutt, he embarks on a touching journey of rediscovery and connection, finding meaning and inspiration in the present moment—as well as a lifelong friendship.
Directed by Diego Freitas (Beyond the Universe), Caramelo also features Arianne Botelho, Noemia Oliveira, Ademara, Kelzy Ecard, Bruno Vinicius, Roger Gobeth, and Olívia Araújo in the cast, as well as Cristina Pereira, Carolina Ferraz, and a special appearance by chef Paola Carosella.
Produced by Migdal Filmes in its first partnership with Netflix, the film’s screenplay is written by Diego Freitas (original idea), Rod Azevedo, and Vitor Brandt, with contributions from Carolina Castro and consulting by Marcelo Saback. The film also features animal trainer Luis Estrelas, who was responsible for animal welfare on set, as well as consulting from American trainer Mike Miliotti (Garfield: The Movie).
