Link copied to clipboardRio de Janeiro, May 20, 2024 – Dearest Readers, Bridgerton's high society took on a Rio feel this Monday. The stars of the third season of the worldwide Netflix smash, Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton, who play the couple Penelope and Colin (or #Polin, as they’re called online) experienced funk at the Brazilian stop of the series' world launch tour. The actors welcomed fans, influencers and journalists from all over Brazil in one of the most traditional and iconic sites in the city, the Theatro Municipal. With surprises such as an intimate set by Mc Carol - the official queen of the ball - and a passinho performance, the Bridgerton Funk Ball celebrated the new season of the show and all its Brazilian fans. There was even a funk carriage complete with traditional funk ball speakers.
Upon arrival, before the ball began, the actors posed for photos on the red carpet. To the sound of thundering applause and wild screams, they welcomed fans brought by Netflix from all over the country for a special chat. Local celebrities such as Camila Queiroz and Klebber Toledo, the hosts of Love Is Blind: Brazil, and actress Carla Diaz, as well as influencers such as Camila Pudim, Blogueirinha, Xan Ravelli and Lara Santana, who all came dressed in character, also had their moment. Singer Tati Quebra Barraco and influencers Jeniffer Dias and Raphael Vicente, among others, also attended.
To the delight of the guests, most of them in Bridgerton-inspired looks, the Brazilian funk orchestra Funk Orquestra opened the ball with a new version of the series' theme song—a classic arrangement with a hint of funk. Then, in the best Queen Charlotte style, funk singer Mc Carol welcomed the Rio court and received Nicola and Luke on stage, where Polin's interpreters declared their love for Brazil. Not long after, the queen Mc Carol, along with passinho dancers André Oliveira, Pablinho Fantástico, Ygão, Celly Idd, May Idd, and DJ Totonete got everyone dancing. Lady Whistledown would most certainly approve of this ball.

About Bridgerton Season 3:
Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) finally stops chasing after Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), having heard the harsh words he said about her last season. However, Penelope decides it's time to get married—preferably to a man who can offer her the independence she needs to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far from her mother and sisters. But Penelope's lack of confidence sets her up for a colossal failure on the ton’s marriage market. For his part, Colin returns from his summer travels with a new look and plenty of swagger. He realizes that Penelope, the only person who ever liked him for who he really was, has become indifferent to him. Determined to win back her friendship, Colin offers to teach Penelope how to be more confident and land a husband. But the lessons start to work a little too well, and Colin becomes jealous. Does he truly just want to be her friend? To complicate matters even more, Penelope finds herself at odds with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a surprising new friend. What's more, Penelope’s participation in the season makes it even more difficult to conceal her alter ego, Lady Whistledown.
