Oriol Paulo returns to Netflix with 'Proxies', premiering on 11 December

Netflix has today announced the release date and unveiled the teaser poster for Proxies, the new thriller from Oriol Paulo, one of the filmmakers who has helped redefine genre cinema in Spain over the past decade. The film will premiere globally on Netflix on 11 December.

Directed by Oriol Paulo and written by Paulo and Guillem Clua, the film brings together Eduard Fernández (The 47,od's Crooked Lines), Mario Casas (The Dinner, The Innocent), Blanca Suárez (Hidden Murder, Breathless), Nicolás Francella (The House of the Spirits, High Seas) and Alexandra Jiménez (Go Team!, 53 Sundays).

The film tells the story of how, on Christmas Eve morning, a man walks into a police station and confesses to killing two or three people. Yet, behind his confession lies a question that is harder to answer: why he has decided to turn himself in now, and what he hopes to achieve with his confession. From that point on, his story soon becomes linked to another seemingly closed case, one that defies all logic.

Produced by Juanita Films, Proxies was filmed at various locations in Catalonia. Oriol Paulo and Miguel Ángel Faura serve as executive producers, producing alongside Libertad Ribera and Jaume Martí. Bernat Bosch is the director of photography, and the original music is by Fernando Velázquez.
