A Closer Connection: Netflix’s New Internet Hub in Querétaro, Mexico

PoP Netflix

There are moments you don't want to miss: the pivotal scene in Stranger Things or the most anticipated match in WWE Raw. That's why we work to bring every second to your screen in the best way possible.

Today, we’re happy to share a new step in our long-term commitment to Mexico in the form of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Querétaro, which will benefit our members and strengthen Mexico’s broader digital ecosystem.

A PoP is, simply put, a site where Netflix installs its own equipment to connect directly with local internet providers—inside Mexico—instead of routing that traffic through the United States. The result is content that lives closer to the people watching it!

Now, with this new PoP, you can enjoy global phenomena like Bridgerton, Squid Game, K-Pop Demon Hunters and BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG, or play cloud games on your TV, all with even smoother playback.

Made in Mexico, shared with the world

  • This is Netflix’s second market in Latin America—after Brazil—where Netflix has established a Point of Presence (PoP).

  • Querétaro’s PoP was built in under a year reflecting the pace of our investment in Mexico’s infrastructure.

A better experience for live moments

  • Live events—from sports to global specials—depend on smooth, real-time delivery. Bringing our network closer to Mexican viewers means fewer disruptions during the moments people care about most.

Building for what’s next

  • Beyond live streaming, this investment lays the groundwork for future capabilities in Mexico, including Cloud Gaming.

  • Mexico is already one of our largest Cloud Gaming markets, and a stronger local network is a step toward a smoother gaming experience over time.

A stronger internet for everyone in Mexico

  • This isn’t just a win for Netflix. A local Point of Presence gives Mexican internet providers—large and small—a more efficient way to connect with each other and with global content, strengthening the country’s broader internet ecosystem.

“Opening our PoP in Querétaro is about way more than just faster streaming, it’s about strengthening Mexico's entire internet ecosystem. Years in the making, this setup gives ISPs across the country (large and small) a cleaner, more efficient way to route traffic locally without relying on international transit. What makes this milestone truly special is the ripple effect beyond Netflix: a faster, more resilient local internet that benefits every provider and user nationwide. Super proud of the team and grateful to have played a part in making it happen!” — Sulema Contreras, ISP Network Partnerships at Netflix.
