Our Favorite TV Dads Share Their Picks for the Best Father’s Day Gifts 

Father’s Day is quickly approaching. Whether you’re spending the day with your dad or celebrating him from afar, making plans and picking out the perfect present can be stressful. If you’re still looking for last-minute inspiration, take some cues from Sweet Magnolias’ Justin Bruening and Atypical’s Michael Rapaport, who shared some of the best gifts they’ve ever received for Father’s Day. 

Culinary treats: “We have a tradition in our house where my kids will make me breakfast in bed. No matter if I get up before them, I have to stay in bed,” says Bruening, who is a father of four. “My wife always makes something yummy that my children will deliver with coffee.”

Old reliable: When in doubt, you can always rely on the classics to come through. “I can never have enough scented candles or cashmere sweaters,” reveals Rapaport. “I love them both as gifts to give and receive.” Hey, they’re classics for a reason!

Something personal: If you’re still stumped, consider something you have in common. “My kids typically give me a more practical gift, like Legos, mainly because they like them but also because I love them. One year they got me the 1989 Lego Batmobile,” says Bruening. “My son and I will always sneak away to my office to have some time alone to build it and watch Lego Batman on Netflix. I do the same with my girls too with whatever set interests them.”

Atypical Season 4 debuts July 9 on Netflix.
