Netflix Wins Big at 2021 Indonesian Film Awards

Netflix has clinched the most wins at the 2021 Indonesian Film Festival by bringing home 16 trophies. Held in Jakarta, Indonesia, the prestigious festival saw awards for Netflix films Photocopier (Penyalin Cahaya), Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens and Sobat Ambyar.

Leading the nominations in 17 categories, Photocopier was named Best Picture and received 11 other awards, including Best Director (Wregas Bhanuteja), Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor (Chicco Kurniawan) and Best Supporting Actor (Jerome Kurnia). The film will be available on Netflix on January 13, 2022.  Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens won in the Best Supporting Actress category for Marissa Anita while Sobat Ambyar received the award for Best Adapted Screenplay. 

Award-winning Indonesian films from past years, which made their mark on this festival, are also available on the Netflix platform, such as Impetigore (Perempuan Tanah Jahanam) (2019), Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts (Marlina si Pembunuh dalam Empat Babak) (2017), Satan’s Slaves (Pengabdi Setan) (2016) and Athirah (2015).
