29 July 2025Today, Netflix released the first photo of Lorena Comparato as Elize Matsunaga, during filming of its new Brazilian feature film. This psychological thriller with elements of melodrama is inspired by the real-life case of Elize, who shocked the country when she murdered her husband in their apartment in São Paulo in 2012. The movie was written by Raphael Montes (Good Morning, Verônica), script by Montes and Mariana Torres (Good Morning, Verônica Season 3) and directed by Vellas (Criminal Code). The cast also includes Henrique Kimura, as well as names such as Miwa Yanagizawa, Julia Shimura and Denise Weinberg.
“Playing a woman with so many layers and telling a story as nuanced as Elize's is extremely complex for an artist. It's a huge responsibility, because we're talking about a real crime with real consequences. I hope the film sparks important debates in society,” says Lorena Comparato.
The movie is produced by Boutique Filmes, with Gustavo Mello as executive producer and screenwriter Raphael Montes also serving as associate producer. Exploring themes such as social class, power, and violence, the plot delves deep into the mind of Elize, into her complex relationship with Marcos Matsunaga and into the choices that culminated in one of the most shocking crimes in the country's history..
