Eighty-four percent of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) stayed the same and 15% increased 0.2 Mbps, resulting in a higher average speed this month on the Netflix ISP Speed Index, our monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime-time Netflix streaming experience. These are considered normal moves as we roll out new encodes and titles.

Thirty-six countries and regions were in the top performance tier for March: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and Uruguay all registered an average speed of 3.0 Mbps.

There were no significant ISP gains or notable changes to country averages this month. However, five ISPs saw noticeable drops since February’s results. Viettel in Vietnam decreased from 2.8 to 2.6 Mbps, and Zajil Telecom in Kuwait dropped from 2.4 to 2.2 Mbps. Zajil Telecom in Kuwait fell from 2.4 to 2.2 Mbps, and Reytel in Honduras dropped from 2.2 to 2.0 Mbps. Saigontourist Cable Television in Vietnam fell from 2.6 to 2.0 Mbps. In Japan, Chubu Telecommunications is now named Commufa Hikari.

The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime-time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Higher Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times, and fewer interruptions. We also created a separate tool to check your current download performance: Visit https://FAST.com on any internet browser or download the FAST Speed Test iOS or Android app.
