IF ONLY, THE NEW NETFLIX SERIES BEGINS ITS PRODUCTION

Madrid, July 27, 2021 - Netflix has announced today the start of production for If Only, its new series created by the Turkish screenwriter Ece Yörenç creator of series such as Fatmagül, Aşk-ı Memnu, Brave and Beautiful, Kuzey Güney or Medcezir) and supported by Ay Yapim. Irma Correa (Alba) has adapted this romantic story. 

Megan Montaner (30 coins, La caza. Monteperdido) plays Emma, a woman who is unhappy with her present and who will have the opportunity to change her life and start again. Miquel Fernández (Alba, El Nudo) gives life to her husband Nando and Michel Noher (The Unit, 100 días para enamorarse) is Rubén, a man whom Emma will meet in her new life. The cast is completed by Jael Pascual (45 rpm), Eduardo Lloveras (The One) and Bore Buika (Élite) among others. 

Ece Yörenc, creator of the series, says: “A lot of my productions (Forbidden Love, Brave and Beautiful, Fatmagül, North and South, Tide) have been broadcasted on Spanish TVs​, Fatmagul was even adapted in Spanish but none of them gave me the same excitement as If Only, since this is the first time my script is coming to life as an original in another country, I am beyond thrilled. If Only is an entertaining and emotional story at the same time.

My protagonist is a woman who has been trapped in her 10 years of marriage in search of her inner self. This story is truly universal, I am being assertive that this series will be watched over and over again to find the details hidden in the show after watching 8 episodes. Hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did while creating it"

If Only is Emma's journey to herself, a series that talks about dreams, hopes, the meaning of our life, family, friends, love... and the inevitable destiny. Starting the production of this project is a dream come true. Because I find no better way to travel through time than through her eyes." 

Produced by Boomerang for Netflix, this new series will be directed by Liliana Bocanegra (The Queen of Flow) and Alejandro Bazzano (La Casa de Papel, Inés del alma mía) and will be shot in natural locations in Seville, Madrid and Paris. 

About If Only 

Emma is a 30-year-old woman who is disappointed with her ten-year marriage to Nando and her family life who feels that her life has lost its luster. Trapped in a routine without any romance or excitement, she realizes that if she could go back in time, she would not accept Nando's marriage proposal and decides she should divorce him. A couple of days later, while being on her way to see a rare lunar eclipse with her friends, a glitch in time sends her back 10 years earlier, to 2008. Her 30-year-old mind is trapped in her 20-year-old body. Life gives her a chance to reevaluate who she was and who she wants to become, with the distinct advantage of already knowing what the next decade holds for the world.
