06 February 2024The steamy and bold Taiwanese series, Let's Talk About CHU, rose to the No. 1 spot on the Daily Top 10 ranking in Taiwan and Hong Kong within 48 hours of its launch on February 2. This light-hearted family comedy has also entered the Daily Top 10 ranking in four other markets, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. To commemorate this milestone, Netflix is unveiling never-before-seen images of the cast in Chu Ai’s cozy and colorful bedroom, featuring Chan Tzu-hsuan, JC Lin, Wu Chien-ho, Kimi Hsia and Miao Ke-li.
Fans are swiping right on the series, calling it both provocative and thought-provoking for its authentic exploration of the different topics surrounding sexuality and relationships. Some viewers also could not resist binge-watching all eight episodes in a day, while many others called JC Lin and Wu Chien-ho’s same-gender couple storyline their favorite. JC Lin expressed his personal fondness for the scenes set in rural Taiwan, appreciating the gradual emotional development between the characters. Meanwhile, Wu Chien-ho, who portrayed a foul-mouthed casino manager, shared that “despite preferring to play characters with subdued emotions, portraying the role of A-yueh was a challenge I enjoyed. I had to practice Taiwanese Hokkien with a dialect coach and spent four days voice dubbing to bring an authentic and convincing performance to the audience.”
Emerging actress Chan Tzu-hsuan, who played Chu Ai — a quirky and lively wax therapist who also ran a sex education social media channel — received high praise from netizens who deemed her acting natural and authentic. Chan Tzu-hsuan shared her excitement about the positive reception, saying, “I was both nervous and excited about the audience's feedback, while my friends have commended the series for its realistic portrayal of many relatable life experiences.”
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, Let’s Talk About CHU presents itself as an ideal watch for couples looking to spice up date night. Sharing recommendations on what to do on Valentine’s Day, Chan Tzu-hsuan light-heartedly proposed watching Let’s Talk About CHU on Netflix. Meanwhile, Wu Chien-ho suggests the simple pleasure of having a meal with a loved one. JC Lin sweetly advised, "I urge everyone to cherish and enjoy the time spent with their loved ones every day, uncovering new things about each other. This way, every day can feel like Valentine's Day".
Let's Talk About CHU, now streaming globally and exclusively on Netflix, boasts a star-studded cast, including Chan Tzu-hsuan (The Post-Truth World), Kai Ko (Miss Shampoo, You Are the Apple of My Eye), JC Lin (At the Moment, The Bridge Curse), Wu Chien-ho (A Sun), Kimi Hsia (On Marriage), Umin Boya (Till We Meet Again), Miao Ke-li (A Thousand Goodnights), and Hong Sheng-te (Your Name Engraved Herein, Little Big Women).
