29 October 2026Empress of Flames, the reimagined Thai epic from the creators of Master of the House, premieres worldwide December 3 — and the newly unveiled main trailer reveals the scale of what’s coming: a kingdom steeped in gold and firelight, where royal splendor gives way to bloodshed, and every act of loyalty carries the risk of betrayal.
At the center of it all is Ananthip (Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul), the last surviving heir of the Phuka Luang Dynasty, who loses everything the day her father is assassinated before the entire court. Exiled and stripped of her birthright, she transforms from a compassionate princess into a calculating strategist, willing to trade her virtue for vengeance to reclaim the throne. Her path back is lined with the people she once trusted most: Sekharathewi (Narilya Gulmongkolpech), a childhood friend turned rival; Muang Khum (Prin Suparat), the man she loves and her last refuge; and Tongnual (Amanda Obdam), a foreign princess who treats charm and wealth as currency for power.
Empress of Flames is the Netflix version of the iconic Thai IP, reimagined from the ground up by director Sivaroj Kongsakul and Kantana Motion Pictures, the story’s original producers, following their hit series Master of the House. The new version keeps the heart of the original story intact while rebuilding its world from scratch — new kingdoms built with their own distinct landscapes and histories, costume work rooted in Southeast Asian craftsmanship, crowns remade using traditional Buddhist-art techniques, and a script written in a contemporary voice rather than traditional period-drama style. It’s a bigger, more cinematic take on a story Thai audiences have followed for decades, built for a global stage.
That ambition shows up most vividly in the series’ battle sequences. Describing one of the production’s biggest challenges, Sivaroj said: “Another challenging scene was the battle in Punnalak Forest, where the characters had to fight while the forest was on fire. Hundreds of crew members had to work against dense forests, heavy rain and mud to film the action scenes amid the unpredictability of nature, from flash floods and torrential rain to flooding. We had to figure out how to overcome these obstacles. But when I finally saw the results, I was incredibly impressed. The scenes turned out beautifully.”
Prin Suparat, who plays Muang Khum, trained specifically to bring those battle scenes to life: “The action sequences and battle scenes were particularly challenging, especially those that required me to ride a horse while fighting with a sword at the same time. I had to train before filming, relearn how to ride a horse, and practice sword fighting from the basics, including how to properly hold and wield a sword. We also had to rehearse on the actual sets before filming. It was challenging at times, but it was also a lot of fun.”
Pakorn Chatborrirak, who plays Buraphakham, felt the scale firsthand the first time he stepped onto the throne room set: “I was stunned by the scale of the production, the design, the use of color, and the grandeur of the throne. It conveyed a sense of power and reinforced the image of a king.”
It’s only fitting for a story where the throne itself becomes a kind of wildfire — consuming everyone who reaches for it.
Empress of Flames stars Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul, Prin Suparat, Narilya Gulmongkolpech, Pakorn Chatborrirak, Khemanit Jamikorn and Amanda Obdam. The series premieres December 3, only on Netflix.

SYNOPSIS
Empress of Flames is an epic reimagined by the creators of Master of the House from a beloved Thai lakorn of the same name. This iconic story returns with a more cinematic vision — a bold new narrative that digs deeper into its characters and the true sparks behind a ruthless battle for the throne.
Set in the Thipaya Kingdom (Muang Thip), the story unfolds in a realm ruled by the Thipayawongse Dynasty for over 300 years — until the throne was passed to Queen Tawanthip, the feared “Demonic Queen,” whose reign was marked by ruthless brutality over the regional states. Her tyranny was finally ended by King Phuka, who overthrew her and established the Phuka Luang Dynasty. Showing mercy where others would seek blood, King Phuka spared the Thipayawongse bloodline and ushered in an era of peace and prosperity.
Eighteen years later, Buraphakham, the eldest heir of Queen Tawanthip, leads a bloody rebellion, assassinating King Phuka before the entire court and ending the age of peace. Ananthip, King Phuka’s sole surviving descendant, loses everything and is driven into exile. The disgrace transforms her from a compassionate princess into a calculating strategist, determined to restore the honor of the Phuka Luang Dynasty.
Her path back to the throne is fraught with betrayal and palace conspiracy: Sekharathewi, a Thipayawongse heir and once‑cherished friend, becomes an implacable rival; Muang Khum, the man she loves, is her final sanctuary; and Tongnual, a princess from the Kingdom of Meed, uses her charm and wealth as a passport to power. Stripped of her legitimacy time and again, Ananthip finally gives in to the fire within, igniting a vengeful fury ready to consume everything in her fight to reclaim the throne.
