Link copied to clipboardSão Paulo, October 17 – Today, Netflix announced the documentary Eloá the Hostage: Live on TV, premiering November 12, 2025. A trailer, a poster, and first images are now available for this new production, which reveals previously unreleased excerpts from the diary of teenager Eloá Pimentel, as well as testimonies from her brother Douglas and her friend Grazieli Oliveira, who speak publicly about the crime for the first time. The film also features interviews with journalists and officers who followed the case, and reconstructs moments of the tragedy that shook Brazil in October 2008.
The kidnapping of 15-year-old Eloá by her 22-year-old ex-boyfriend, Lindemberg Alves, in the city of Santo André, São Paulo, shocked the nation and was broadcast live across multiple television channels. Negotiations with the police, testimonies from neighbors, speculation about what triggered the crime, tension over the outcome, and even an interview with the kidnapper himself were broadcast over the course of 100 hours. The event sparked endless debates, as the case turned into one of the most prominent hostage crises in the country’s history.
Eloá the Hostage: Live on TV, produced by Paris Entretenimento, is directed by Cris Ghattas and written by Tainá Muhringer and Ricky Hiraoka. Its executive producers are Carol Amorim, Fabi Vanelli and Laura Boorhem, and its producers are Andre Fraccaroli, Marcio Fraccaroli and Veronica Stumpf.
