20 August 2024Forget all titles—enter a high-stakes kitchen arena where the dish alone decides the victor! Premiering on September 17, Culinary Class Wars aims to find out. The newly released teaser trailer and poster give fans a glimpse into this epic culinary battle, in which 100 talented chefs face off in a showdown of taste and skill.
In Culinary Class Wars, “black spoon” hidden masters — home-meal restaurant chefs, trendy pub owners, Chinese restaurant chefs with solid legacies, and school canteen chefs responsible for the meals of celebrities — face off against Korea’s top “white spoon” star chefs, including Michelin-starred chefs, culinary survival show winners, and those who have made history in the culinary world. This diverse lineup promises an explosive and mouth-watering competition.
The teaser poster showcases a tense standoff between these culinary titans, each determined to prove their class. With pride on the line, the question remains: Will the star chefs maintain their status, or will the hidden masters rise above?
Director Kim Hak-min explains, “This culinary class war pits white spoon chefs who have a lot to lose against black spoon chefs who have nothing to fear.” Director Kim Eun-ji adds, “With this global Netflix release, we wanted to showcase the incredible diversity of culinary experts in Korea. We selected 100 contestants with unique culinary philosophies, representing a wide range of cuisines including Korean, Western, Chinese, Japanese, and fusion.”
Adding to the excitement, the show features two legendary judges: Paik Jong-won, Korea’s top restaurateur and national culinary mentor, and Chef Anh Sung-jae of Mosu Seoul, Korea’s only Michelin three-star restaurant.
Culinary Class Wars marks Netflix Korea’s first culinary survival show, following the global success of Physical: 100. The production team, known for national hits like Sing Again and Two Yoo Project Sugar Man, brings their expertise to this massive-scale culinary showdown. Expect challenges and rules that will push chefs to their limits.
Catch Culinary Class Wars on September 17, only on Netflix.
