24 January 2024São Paulo, January 24, 2024 — Kids and their families have long awaited the release date of Luz — and now the wait is over! Netflix is pleased to announce that its first Brazilian children's series will be out February 7. Alongside the announcement, Netflix is also sharing the show's official trailer. In it, audiences get a glimpse of our protagonist's challenging but thrilling journey, as her life turns upside down after discovering secrets from her mysterious past.
In the series, Luz (Marianna Santos) plays an orphan of non-Indigenous origin who is taken in as a baby and raised by Ga (Claudia Di Moura) in Brazil's Indigenous Kaingang community. Upon turning nine, the brave young girl discovers an important clue about her past and decides to run away. With the aid of her little firefly friend, Luz arrives at a boarding school, where she investigates her true origins with some very special new friends.
Marianna Santos stars in the titular role, alongside Celso Frateschi, Claudia di Moura, Dandara Albuquerque, Daniel Rocha, Gabriela Moreyra, Marcos Pasquim, Maurício Destri, Mel Lisboa, Alice Gattai, Aramis Trindade, Bruno Gadiol, Cassio Dutra, Diego Cavalcanti, Emilio Farias, Enzo Lizardo, Francisco Galvão, Gabriel Cano, Julianne Trevisol, Kauezinho, Lena Roque, Luciano Andrey, Luísa Moribe, Mari Campolongo, Miá Mello, Paulo Rocha, Sophia Rosa, Thiago Soares, Victor Barros and Yasmin Berti.
Produced by Floresta, Luz is the brainchild of Guillermo Pendino. Thiago Teitelroit serves as general director, with Giovanna Machline and Rogério Sagui as episode directors. André Rodrigues is lead scriptwriter, along with scriptwriters Ana Durães, Tereza Temer and Nara Marinho.
