Netflix BlackKnight PC 0366

In a thrilling adaptation of the widely-acclaimed webtoon series, Black Knight plunges audiences into a dystopian vision of Seoul, now engulfed by sand and reliant on oxygen deliveries.

With pulse-pounding desert car chases and the sleek, futuristic attire of the deliverymen known as the Black Knights, this highly anticipated series promises to deliver a multi-faceted entertainment experience like no other. Join us as we delve into the captivating insights shared by the star-studded cast and director during the press conference.

Visually enticing and charismatic ensemble cast

Black Knight stars Kim Woo-bin as 5-8, the toughest deliveryman who's admired by many. With his good looks and charm, Kim perfectly captures the hero's spirit. At the press conference, the actor shared that he tried to understand 5-8's past as a refugee and a lone character. Director Cho Ui-seok, who teamed up with Kim in Master, praised him highly, saying, "Woo-bin was made for the strong and silent 5-8."

Meanwhile, well-known actor Song Seung-heon, famous for his roles in Voice Season 4: Judgment Hour, Player, and Black, plays Ryu Seok, a ruthless heir to the powerful Cheonmyeong Group. In a recent interview, Song revealed that the captivating story drew him back to acting after a long break, but his main motivation was his trust in Director Cho. In response, the director praised Song, saying, "This character was a new challenge for him, and he absolutely nailed it."

Esom, recently garnering global acclaim for her roles in Netflix's Kill Boksoon, portrays Major Seol-ah in Black Knight. Her character grapples with maintaining social order while harboring a deep desire to help the marginalized. Esom shared her excitement for the action-packed role, saying, "I have a lot of action scenes and use guns frequently. I hope people will believe I'm a skilled soldier."

Kang You-seok plays the spirited refugee Yoon Sa-wol, who dreams of becoming a deliveryman. At the press conference, Kang revealed he tried to match his character's energy. The director highlighted Kang's professionalism, noting his off-camera playfulness but unwavering focus once the cameras rolled.

A unique spin on the ‘deliverymen’ we’re used to In this imaginative alternate universe, deliverymen take center stage as heroes, providing oxygen by day and battling villains by night to uphold justice. The inventive narrative captivates audiences, offering a stark contrast to our everyday perceptions of deliverymen. Black Knight even features intense competitions to become a deliveryman, a far cry from the role we know today.

During the press conference, lead actress Esom expressed her fascination with the concept, saying, "It's amazing how deliverymen, whom we're so familiar with, become special beings responsible for humanity's survival."

Will justice be restored? Only Action will tell!

In this dystopian world, the all-powerful Cheonmyeong Group has imposed a new order on a desolate land where only a few have managed to survive. Refugees, who lack the crucial QR codes for social security, are pushed to the margins of society. This led to action-packed scenes, including car chases between refugees and deliverymen, intense deliveryman recruitment fights, and clashes with soldiers. Don't miss the electrifying action sequences, which Woo-bin praised, saying he was "amazed by the actors' dedication and charisma."

Desertified Seoul

The series portrays a very realistic dystopian version of metropolitan Seoul where only traces of what we are familiar with are left here and there, such as iconic towers. Director Cho recalls, “The actors had to act against a blue screen, the CG team did an amazing job in the effects to make this all come true.”

Meanwhile, actor Song shared with the press the series gave him fresh appreciation of the climate. “Participating in this series made me think about the environment quite a lot and allowed me to appreciate how precious oxygen is,” he added.

With a unique setting that will push your imagination, an attractive ensemble cast, and elegant visuals, Black Knight will be released on May 12 only on Netflix.
