Berlin, February 7, 2022 – Queer Eye is finally coming to Germany! A beacon for diversity and optimism, Queer Eye Germany turns Reality TV into Rainbow TV. The show’s fabulous five experts enter their protégés’ lives on a mission: to color up their gray everyday worlds and help them (re)connect with their wonderful and authentic selves. This is so much more than a makeover! Our Fab 5 take viewers on a journey of shedding your self-doubt and unloved habits, and getting excited about new things ahead.
"We can all use good advice and a touch of rainbow in our lives," explains design ace Ayan Yuruk. Along with work/life coach Leni Bolt, fashion master Jan-Henrik Scheper-Stuke, beauty guru David Jakobs and health expert Aljosha Muttardi, he forms a dream team ready to turn the spectrum of German-language reality TV series upside down with a whole lot of queer energy.
In addition to their expertise, the Fab 5 each bring their very unique life experience and inspiringly new perspectives to the table: Leni is the first non-binary person to be protagonist of a German show with an international audience. Ayan wants to be the role model for young queer people of Turkish descent that he never had himself. Aljosha quit his job as a doctor to become an activist for animal welfare, veganism and the LGBTQIA+ community. As a gender non-conforming person David particularly cares about inclusion, and for Jan-Henrik fashion has little to do with size zero and trends, but rather with character, self-love and creativity.
About the Fab 5
Leni Bolt (Expertise: Life): Leni is an expert for time management & mindfulness in all aspects of everyday life, a work/life coach, podcast host and hippie at heart with one mission: to change negative perspectives and help people become happy.
Jan-Henrik Scheper-Stuke (Expertise: Fashion): Fashionable from a young age, Jan-Henrik is the dandy of the group. The managing director of the Berlin-based luxury outfitter Auerbach is truly a fashion expert. He also hosts numerous shows about fashion and luxury goods on national television and was in charge of a style column for a Berlin newspaper.
David Jakobs (Expertise: Beauty): Influencer, hair and make-up artist David takes care of all beauty-related matters. It is especially important to her that the participants find a beauty routine that makes them feel good in their skin.
Aljosha Muttardi (Expertise: Health): Aljosha is a doctor and nutritionist who built a community of over 200,000 subscribers on Youtube. In Queer Eye Germany, he helps build a healthier lifestyle, not only in terms of food, but also mental health and physical excercise.
Ayan Yuruk (Expertise: Design): Ayan is the interior design ace of the Fab 5. As founder and creative director of the brand space agency Showz, he is a master when it comes to the redesign of spaces. He ensures that the mentees find the perfect recreational space in their homes.
About Queer Eye Germany
Queer Eye Germany is the first international export of the US hit reality format. Over five episodes, the Fab 5 provide inspiration for positive change to the stories of their five everyday heroes – including a young soccer coach’s coming out, a single father’s way back into dating, and a shaken young woman’s journey to finally enjoying life. Truly fabulous!
About the Queer Eye format
Originally rooted in the US and produced by Scout Productions and ITV Entertainment, the reality series Queer Eye has quickly developed into a global phenomenon and has turned the American Fab 5 Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown and Bobby Berk into worldwide queer icons. Not to be missed at any glamorous gala, they also use their popularity to tirelessly promote the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. Since 2018, the format has collected nine Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Netflix reboot of Queer Eye is based on the original US hit series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which ran on Bravo for five seasons. The original series was created by David Collins and also produced by Scout Productions. NBCUniversal Formats, a division of Universal Studio Group licensed the Queer Eye format to Netflix.
