21 February 2022São Paulo, February 21, 2022 - LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! Netflix takes you behind the scenes of the new show Back to 15, coming February 25. In a video filmed on set, Maisa, Camila Queiroz, Pedro Vinícius, Alice Marcone, Klara Castanho, João Guilherme and Caio Cabral reveal what went on backstage and share what audiences can expect from the Brazilian show, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Bruna Vieira.
Want to know more? Here are 7 more facts about Back to 15 that aren’t in the video:
1) It took at least two hours every day to curl Camila Queiroz’s hair (Anita at 30) to get it to match Maisa (Anita at 15), and the process required 3 different curling irons.
2) It may not look like it, but Fabricio (João Guilherme) is wearing extensions. At the time of filming, the actor had short hair, but the character needed the long skater-boy bangs that were popular in the early 2000s.
3) Bananal, in the middle of São Paulo state, was chosen to depict the fictional rural town of Imperatriz, where the main character was born.
4) The house selected to be the main character’s home didn’t have enough room to fit bedrooms for both sisters, Anita and Luiza, as well as all the equipment (cameras, etc.). So those bedrooms were recreated in a studio.
5) To play Henrique, Caio Cabral took violin lessons, and it went so well that he decided to work on a music career as well.
6) The character of Camila in the book only appears when Anita is 30, and she’s a cis woman. In the show, Camila (Alice Marcone) is a trans woman, and in the early scenes, the character is referred to as César (Pedro Vinícius).
7) Klara Castanho has a mole above her lip that had to be recreated in the form of a tiny prosthetic to be applied to Yana Sardenberg, who plays the same character, Carol, at 30.
Synopsis:
Back to 15 is a fun-filled story about self-discovery and maturity that centers on Anita, played by Maisa as a girl and Camila Queiroz as an adult. At 15, she dreamed of growing up and leaving behind her small hometown of Imperatriz to travel the world and meet new people. But when she turns 30, her life is nothing like she imagined. She doesn’t have many friends, she lives in a shabby apartment, and her love life is dead on arrival. That’s when Anita goes back to her hometown for her sister Luiza’s wedding. After a series of disastrous events, she holes up in her teenage bedroom, and like magic, is transported through time to her first day of high school. Her 30-year-old brain is trapped in a 15-year-old body!
The show was produced by Carolina Alckmin and Mayra Lucas of Glaz Entertainment and directed by Vivi Jundi and Dainara Toffoli. Janaina Tokitaka adapted and scripted the show, and Renata Kochen, Alice Marcone, and Bryan Ruffo also worked on the script.
