Netflix signs exclusive first look deal with Kim Magnusson to produce Scandinavian original films

  • Netflix and award-winning producer, Kim Magnusson, have entered into a multi-year first look deal for feature films.
  • Kim will produce a number of local original films throughout the Nordic region, to be released globally on Netflix. Projects will be sourced throughout Scandinavia and produced, predominantly, in the local language.
  • Kim will be working with established filmmakers in the region, as well as discovering and breaking out fresh new talent.

About Kim Magnusson:

Danish producer Kim Magnusson founded M&M Productions in 1995 with his father, Tivi Magnusson. From 2003 - 2009 he was CEO of Nordisk Film’s Film Division. In the years 1995-2018 he produced or Executive Produced more than 125 films and TV-series including I Kill Giants, Men & Chicken, Adam’s Apples, Headhunter, Terkel In Trouble, Worlds Apart, R, Pusher II & III.

Kim has been Oscar® nominated in the category “Live Action Short Film” six times and won the Oscar® in both 1999 for Election Night and in 2014 for Helium, furthermore, his company has been nominated 3 times and won 2 additional Oscars®. He received an EMMY® for the acclaimed film Island On Bird Street.

He has been the chairman of the Danish Producers Association for 9 years, as well as chairman of the Danish Film Academy - a position he has held since 1999.
