24 January 2022Created with Dr. Tina Bryson, childhood development expert and author of “The Whole-Brain Child,” Stories include Netflix Jr. characters from Ada Twist, Scientist, StoryBots, Ridley Jones, Trash Truck and more Netflix has launched its first podcast for younger kids - BEDTIME STORIES WITH NETFLIX JR., with companion videos on the Netflix Jr. channel on YouTube. The new podcast is designed to help your little one relax and drift off to sleep with their favorite Netflix Jr. characters. Bedtime Stories with Netflix Jr. launches today, January 24, 2022.
Created with Dr. Tina Bryson, childhood development expert and author of “The Whole-Brain Child,” each episode helps parents establish a night-time routine that helps children successfully transition gently to sleep, while also helping kids build skills to navigate the world.
Dr. Tina Bryson said, “I loved helping develop Bedtime Stories with Netflix Jr. Bedtime can be an especially stressful time. This podcast can be a great addition to the night-time routine because when parents and kids create a routine that's joyful, connecting, and effective in navigating the transition to sleep, bedtime can be a really great part of the day that builds trust and safety and delight within the parent-child relationship.”
The inaugural collection features episodes that run about 10-15 minutes each; all are available now. The original stories incorporate themes like the importance of sleep, dreaming, getting ready for bed, downregulating from high energy to low energy, and more. The eight episodes include:
StoryBots: Why Do We Need Sleep? - After a long day of work, Bang investigates why humans need sleep when it’s much more fun to stay awake.
Chip & Potato: Mystery Before Sleeptime - Chip and Potato go on a nighttime adventure to find Spud’s missing Zinger jewel.
Super Monsters: Lobo’s First Sleepover - Lobo has his first ever sleepover with Frankie. After the excited pair get ready for bed, Lobo needs extra help quieting his mind to fall asleep.
StarBeam: Calm in the Storm - The day before the big carnival, Miserable Marla is keeping everyone awake with her storming. StarBeam is determined to get a good night’s sleep and quiet Marla down.
Ada Twist, Scientist: Tooth Fairy Bells - After Ada loses her first tooth, The Questioneers develop a plan to meet the Tooth Fairy.
Ridley Jones: Dino-Night Rescue - Dante has misplaced his stuffy and he can’t fall asleep without it. Ridley and Dudley help Dante explore the museum to find his favorite toy, and get cozy before bedtime.
Trash Truck: Tire(d) Swing - Hank and friends chase down their tire swing after it rolls down the hill.
Go! Go! Cory Carson: Where’s My Yawn? - After a big day of playing, Freddie accidentally “catches” Cory’s yawn, and the two must do whatever it takes to get Cory’s yawn back before bedtime.
A fun original theme song plays at the start of each episode, and there is also a lightly animated motion graphic treatment of the podcast available on the Netflix Jr. channel on YouTube.
Additionally launching this Spring, Netflix Jr. Magazine, a free bi-monthly magazine for kids ages 2-5 featuring their favorite preschool series and characters they enjoy on Netflix. About Dr. Bryson
Dr. Tina Payne Bryson (she/her) is the author of Bottom Line for Baby (Random House 2020) and co-author (with Dan Siegel) of THE POWER OF SHOWING UP (Random House 2020) and THE YES BRAIN (Random House 2018), as well as two New York Times bestsellers -- THE WHOLE-BRAIN CHILD (Random House 2011), and NO-DRAMA DISCIPLINE (Random House 2014) -- each of which has been translated into over fifty languages. Tina is a psychotherapist and the Founder/Executive Director of The Center for Connection, a multidisciplinary clinical practice, and of The Play Strong Institute, a center devoted to the study, research, and practice of play therapy through a neurodevelopment lens.
Dr. Bryson keynotes conferences and conducts workshops for kids, parents, educators, clinicians, and industry leaders all over the world. A graduate of Baylor University, she earned her LCSW and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, where her research explored attachment science, childrearing theory, and the emerging field of interpersonal neurobiology.
Tina emphasizes that before she’s a parenting educator, or a researcher, she’s a mom. She limits her clinical practice and speaking engagements so that she can spend time with her family. Alongside her husband of 27 years, parenting her three boys is what makes her happiest.
