14 August 2023The month of July marks three years since we started publishing data on the revised Netflix ISP Speed Index, our monthly update on which Internet Service Providers provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience. We are now up to 61 countries/regions and have over 400 ISP entries listed.
Ten countries and regions were in the top performance tier for July: Hong Kong, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United States all registered an average speed of 3.4 Mbps. Hong Kong and Singapore have consistently been in the top performance tier for the last 12 months.
Three ISPs gained 0.2 Mbps this month, mirroring June’s results. BOnline in Kuwait and MTN in South Africa went from 2.4 to 2.6 Mbps, and Inter in Venezuela went from 2.0 to 2.2 Mbps. There were no significant ISP drops for July.
Canada and Malaysia saw a larger overall drop in speed, both falling from 3.6 to 3.2 Mbps.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Faster Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions. We also created a separate tool to check your current download performance: Visit https://FAST.com on any internet browser or download the FAST Speed Test iOS or Android app.
