08 March 2021For the month of February, 15 countries and regions were in the top performance-tier on the Netflix ISP Speed Index, our monthly update on which Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience.
Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Hong Kong, Israel, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, the UK and the US all placed in the top tier for the second month in a row. They, again, all registered an average speed of 3.6 Megabits per second (Mbps).
Three individual ISPs posted the largest gains, each rising 0.4 Mbps. Austria’s A1 escalated to 2.8 Mbps - its third month in a row of increases. After two months of dips, Hungary’s invitel jumped to 3.0 Mbps. Israel’s 099.net rose to 2.8 Mbps.
Austria’s A1 increase likely helped boost the country’s overall average 0.2 Mbps to 3.2 Mbps - the only country average to improve in February. This was the third month in a row Austria’s country average increased.
No individual services or country averages saw notable decreases this month.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of primetime Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Faster Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions.
