Netflix Canada Hosts 'Nimona' Screening in Toronto With Animation Director Ted Ty

Netflix hosted a screening of Nimona in Toronto with the film’s animation director, Ted Ty (Global Head of Character Animation, DNEG Animation) ahead of the global release.

• The advance screening took place Saturday, June 24 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.

• More than 150 guests attended the screening, including local families, animation students, content creators, industry professionals, and animators who worked on the film. 

• Guests were treated to Nimona-themed cookies, foam swords, and a plushie giveaway.

• The screening was followed by a Q&A with Ty, facilitated by TIFF programmer Jane Schoettle. Ty spoke about what drew him to the project, his experience translating the script to film, and answered questions from audience members. 

• The event wrapped up with a reception where Ty was able to interact with animation students from local post-secondary programs. Students were thrilled to receive one-on-one insights and advice about the animation industry.

Nimona premieres globally on Netflix June 30, 2023.
