São Paulo, May 20 2024 - Today, Netflix announced the documentary Nelma Kodama: The Queen of Dirty Money, to be released worldwide on June 6, 2024. The new documentary, for which an official trailer and poster are now available, will reveal for the first time how a former dentist from a rural area in the state of São Paulo, became the first woman imprisoned as part of Operation Car Wash. An unprecedented deep dive into the world of dirty money, the documentary features powerful testimonials that explore the backstory of Nelma Kodama, a key figure in the biggest corruption investigation in Brazil's history.

Love. Sex. Betrayal. And mountains of dirty cash. Nelma Kodama: The Queen of Dirty Money explores a life filled with challenges, plot twists and luxury,  as it focuses on an unusual character in the world of corruption — one who was able to become prominent in circles that had, until then, been exclusively male. Thanks to her gift for persuasion, Nelma was able to amass millions in cash that was then spent on bribes in Brasília, the nation's capital. She became a national figure when she was arrested while trying to escape — with 200,000 euros hidden in her clothes.

Directed by João Wainer and produced by TX Filmes, Nelma Kodama: The Queen of Dirty Money  was written by Camila Kamimura and produced by Camila Villas Boas and Roberto T. Oliveira, with Carol Amorim and Yara Camargo as executive producers.
