Netflix Announces Familia, The New Film From Rodrigo García, Starring Daniel Giménez Cacho, Ilse Salas, Cassandra Ciangherotti, Natalia Solian, And Maribel Verdú

Familia, the first film in Spanish by acclaimed Colombian-Mexican filmmaker, Rodrigo García, who has directed films like Mother and Child and Albert Nobbs, tells the story of a peculiar family and explores the complexities of cohabitation around a decision that will change them forever. In a world where distance seems to pull us apart, Familia shows the power of togetherness. The film was shot in Valle de Guadalupe and it wrapped on May 17.

Daniel Giménez Cacho (BARDO: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths), Ilse Salas (The Good Girls), Cassandra Ciangherotti (Ready to Mingle), Natalia Solian (Huesera: The Bone Woman), and Maribel Verdú (Pan’s Labyrinth), among others, star in the film, produced by Gerardo Gatica (Museo, I’m No Longer Here).

"Shooting Familia has been a great experience. This is my first time directing in Mexico. Great producers, collaborators, several of my favorite Mexican actors and actresses, and Netflix’s full support have made this project an unforgettable trip back home", stated director Rodrigo García.

On the other hand, Francisco Ramos, Vice President of Content for Latin America at Netflix, added: "We are very excited about this first collaboration between Rodrigo García and Netflix. Familia is a film about the importance of family ties, which led Rodrigo to film in Mexico for the first time with an amazing cast led by Daniel Giménez Cacho, Ilse Salas, Maribel Verdú, Cassandra Ciangherotti, and Natalia Solian. Familia carries on our firm commitment to Que México Se Vea. I expect this to be the first of many collaborations with Rodrigo.”
