Netflix celebrated the European premiere of Electric State last night in Madrid, with the presence of its stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things, Damsel) and Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World), along with its directors, Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: Endgame). Hundreds of fans gathered at Madrid's Callao Square to catch a glimpse of the movie stars, with the film set to premiere globally on Netflix on March 14, 2025.
In addition to the main cast, numerous celebrities such as Juan Antonio Bayona and Santiago Segura, as well as content creators like Alba Paul, Diego Matamoros, Lucía de la Puerta, Nachter, Paula Gonu, and Natalia Osona, among many others, did not want to miss the event, which was hosted by Andrea Compton and Lalachus. Content creators from all over Europe, including Jonathan Akamz, Karlotta Nila, Larissa Kimberly, and Evelyn Chen, also attended.
That morning, actors Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, and directors Anthony and Joe Russo attended a press conference with Spanish media. Millie Bobby Brown stated that she hoped "Electric State will be a wake-up call to understand our relationship with technology." Regarding his preparation for the character, Chris Pratt explained, "I'm a child of the '90s, so I was very excited to use my pop culture references in the project and create a bit of nostalgia for that era."
Electric State is a spectacular sci-fi adventure from the directors of Avengers: Endgame set in an alternate, retro-futuristic version of the 1990s. Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things, Enola Holmes, Damsel) stars as Michelle, an orphaned teenager navigating life in a society where sentient robots resembling cartoons and mascots, who once served peacefully among humans, now live in exile following a failed uprising.
Everything Michelle thinks she knows about the world is upended one night when she’s visited by Cosmo, a sweet, mysterious robot who appears to be controlled by Christopher — Michelle’s genius younger brother whom she thought was dead. Determined to find the beloved sibling she thought she had lost, Michelle sets out across the American southwest with Cosmo, and soon finds herself reluctantly joining forces with Keats (Chris Pratt, Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World), a low-rent smuggler, and his wisecracking robot sidekick, Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie). As they venture into the Exclusion Zone, a walled-off corner in the desert where robots now exist on their own, Keats and Michelle find a strange, colorful group of new animatronic allies — and begin to learn that the forces behind Christopher’s disappearance are more sinister than they ever expected.
Electric State is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: Endgame) and features a cast that includes Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Stanley Tucci (The King's Man), and Woody Norman (C'mon C'mon). The film is based on the graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Stephen McFeely (Avengers: Doomsday).
