29 June 2018- Netflix announced today that Emmy Award winner Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele, Friends From College) will be co-starring in Dolemite Is My Name! alongside Eddie Murphy
- The film is based on the real life story of Rudy Ray Moore and stars Eddie Murphy as Moore. Key will be playing Jerry Jones.
- Key is next starring in Predator for Fox, in Season 2 of Netflix's Friends From College and voicing in The Lion King for Disney.
- Previously Announced Cast: Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Eddie Murphy, Wesley Snipes (Blade trilogy, The Expendables 3), Mike Epps (Next Friday, The Hangover), Craig Robinson (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Office), Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Office Christmas Party)

- Logline: Real life story of the irreverent Rudy Ray Moore, a “larger than life” comedian, musician, singer, actor, and film producer in the 1970’s. When he couldn’t get work in Hollywood, he simply created his own - including the most well-known Blaxploitation film of all time, Dolemite.
- Filming began June 11 around Los Angeles
- Netflix will launch the film in 2019
