Cosy Up! A Collection of Down-Under Dramas, International Meet-Cutes & Kitty Flanagan’s Laugh-Out-Loud Aussie Comedy 'Fisk' is now streaming on Netflix

Winter Warmers Tapestry

With family beach days and BBQ’s still in the far future, Netflix has curated a selection of feel-good films and shows to get you through those final winter blues. The ‘Winter Warmers’ collection brings together all your favourite comedies, romances, and dramas hailing from Australia and beyond that lend a different meaning for Netflix & Chill.

New to Netflix is Kitty Flanagan’s award-winning comedy series, Fisk. Helen Tudor-Fisk is a socially inept solicitor forced to take a job specialising in wills and estates. The work itself is no problem. It’s the people. Helen struggles to deal with clients who are emotional, irrational and often unjustifiably entitled. Set in a suburban law firm where no one wears Spanx, Fisk is a very different type of legal show.

While the ‘Winter Warmers’ collection is only available to our members in Australia & New Zealand, all episodes of Fisk are now available on Netflix in Australia & across the world*.

“I’m beyond excited that Fisk is going to Netflix. Now whenever anyone asks, “hey where can I watch your show?" It’s simple. No downloading or explaining where to find some app. Just hit the Netflix button and Fisk yourself stupid” says Flannagan.

The collection also features Aussie favourites including Superwog, Wellmania, True Spirit, Kath & Kim, Top End Wedding, Upper Middle Bogan and A Perfect Pairing in addition to international Netflix classics like Enola Holmes, The Adam Project, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Emily in Paris, Falling Inn Love and more.

We partnered with Australian textile designer and weaver Dimity Kidston to create the bespoke tapestry design which members in Australia & New Zealand will see when they visit the ‘Winter Warmers’ collection page. The tapestry was physically woven by Dimity and then digitised for the Netflix product.

We talked with Dimity about her process and inspiration for the tapestry.

Tell us more about you and your art.

All my life, I have been inspired by my surroundings and growing up in Australia gave me a fantastic palate and influence on my art. I have lived in many different environments, the beautiful coast, bustling cities and open spaces of the bush. The many colours, organic shapes and patterns in native Australian plants inspire my art. As an artist fascinated by nature, I always closely watch changes in my surrounding environment and often document my findings in one way or another.

How do you typically spend your Aussie winter?

During the winter, my family and I take trips down to the coast and enjoy the relaxing surroundings of nature and the sounds of birds, waves and people having fun. We appreciate the beach in the winter as it's just as beautiful, and the cold keeps the crowds away. I enjoy walking my dogs in the scenery and seeing the beautiful Australian flora and fauna. Of course, a backyard fire with marshmallows is also a favourite.

Give us a recommendation! What are you most interested in watching?

I have to admit to being a huge consumer of movies as I have them playing while I weave. I have a strong bias towards anything Australian, if I’m watching a series I will often stay up late into the night and keep weaving.

I enjoy the positive attitude of Emily, in Emily in Paris, she is enthusiastic to discover new things with bold energy and passion. I also love a good underdog story and Footy Legends is an Australian classic.
