Streaming worldwide exclusively on Netflix starting July 12, 2024

Berlin, May 23, 2024: Is there anything better than new love? Pia (Janina Uhse) and Jan (Dennis Mojen) have just fallen in love – racing hearts, butterflies in the stomach, a feeling of happiness. They can hardly spend a minute without each other. At last, Jan is officially introduced to Pia's friends during a game night. What could possibly go wrong?

The answer is: everything. Young love is tested in the raucous romantic comedy Blame the Game, which is streaming on Netflix starting on July 12. It soon becomes clear that the tight-knit group of gamers is very particular. And when Pia's ex turns up, the evening escalates into a competition for her heart.

They are joined by host Karo (Anna Maria Mühe) and her husband, fantasy role-player Oliver (Axel Stein), hopeless romantic Sheila (Taneshia Abt), dreamy perpetual student Kurt (Max Bretschneider), Pia's troublemaker ex Matthias (Stephan Luca), and Alex (Edin Hasanovic), Jan's buddy, personal advisor and savior in times of need.

The first scenes from the film give us insight into a fierce but friendly competition for fame, glory and honor. Who's a team player? Who plays tactically – and who is simply in it for love?

The movie was directed by Marco Petry, who has already enchanted audiences with comedies such as Partly Sunny and Playing Doctor. It was produced by Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann and Marcus Welke from W&B Television (Dark, 4 Blocks, The Pass).
