Link copied to clipboardSão Paulo, June 11th, 2019 - Netflix released today the official key art and trailer for The Chosen One, its first supernatural thriller out of Brazil. The video reveals the face of the mysterious leader (Renan Tenca), named after the show, whose unknown powers motivate Lucia (Paloma Bernardi), Damião (Pedro Caetano) and Enzo (Gutto Szuster) to conduct a dangerous investigation into its dark and protected camp. On this journey, we can witness two very different worlds colliding through the doctors' encounters with devotees like Zulmira (Tuna Dwek), Angelina (Alli Willow), Mateus (Mariano Martins) and Vicente (Aury Porto).

Adapted from the Mexican series Niño Santo, The Chosen One follows three young doctors who are sent to a remote village in Pantanal to vaccinate residents against a new mutation of the Zika virus. Their efforts to bring medical aid are refused, and the doctors find themselves trapped in an isolated community shrouded in secrets and devoted to an enigmatic leader who forces them to confront the power of faith over science.
Produced by Mixer Films, The Chosen One is directed by Michel Tikhomiroff, who also acts as executive-producer alongside João Daniel Tikhomiroff. The Brazilian series was written by the celebrated authors Raphael Draccon and Carolina Munhóz, who also signs as co-executive producers.
Cast also includes talented Lourinelson Vladmir, playing Santiago; Francisco Gaspar, as Silvino; and Kiko Vianello as Dr. Lorenzo, among others.
Full of mysteries, the six-episode show will premiere globally, all at once, exclusively on Netflix on June 28th.
