26 August 2025Now separated from each other, can Arisu and Usagi escape Borderland once again? Premiering September 25, the third season of Alice in Borderland returns with even higher stakes. The newly released main trailer teases the dangers that lie ahead as the two find themselves back in the liminal space they once escaped.
In Season 3, Usagi is taken to the Borderland, and Arisu follows to save her. The two are separated and must each join other participants to take on the deadly games. Kento Yamazaki comments, “Since Arisu and Usagi are split into separate teams, I found it interesting to see the different atmospheres and character dynamics within each group. Over the seasons, the characters have become so beloved by fans, and I think that’s why the audience can really empathize with them during the life-or-death moments.”
Tsuchiya adds, “Everything Usagi has experienced in the past seasons is now part of her story, so whenever I needed to, I would go back and rewatch Seasons 1 and 2. With Season 3 featuring an original story, I felt it was important to approach this role with everything that’s happened so far in mind.”
This season features the most impactful games yet, surpassing even those of previous seasons. Yamazaki highlights a particularly memorable game set at a shrine at night, where countless flaming arrows rain down — a scene that was striking in the original manga and has now been brought to life with Japanese VFX technology for maximum visual impact. “When I read the manga, I was blown away by the flaming arrows, so when I saw the script for this scene, I thought, ‘It’s here!’” he excitedly says.
Tsuchiya encourages viewers to pay attention to the particular game featured in the trailer where colorful dice are rolled. “As the players become more desperate, everyone’s performances become more intense and dramatic. I think this game really captures the essence of Alice in Borderland — it’s about life and death, and about discovering how you truly want to live,” she muses. As the games progress, the players are relentlessly pushed to their limits, and the tension and intensity only escalate. These thrilling and unique games are not to be missed.
The full key visual has also been revealed, featuring Arisu and Usagi at the center, reaching for each other, with the Joker card looming behind them with a sinister grin. Beneath them, a swirling vortex reminiscent of a black hole waits to pull them into darkness. Surrounding them are the participants of the latest games, including Ryuji grabbing Usagi’s hand and Banda with a menacing aura. Each character looks toward Arisu and Usagi — some with desperation, others with determination — highlighting the epic scale and tension of the story to come.
Will hope await them, or despair? Alice in Borderland Season 3 streams worldwide on September 25, only on Netflix.
