Netflix’s greatest impact is creating empathy and understanding through the stories we tell. We believe more people deserve to see their lives on screen, and are committed to creating opportunities in front of and behind the camera for people from all backgrounds and cultures.

Inclusion In Our Workforce

We create and connect stories to people all around the globe. In order to tell these wide-ranging stories and make them accessible everywhere, we need employees from different backgrounds and a culture that celebrates those differences.

Women now make up 51.7% of our global workforce, up from 48.7% in 2020.
Half of our US workforce (50.5%) is made up of people from one or more historically excluded ethnic and/or racial backgrounds, up from 46.8% in 2020.
Of the 22 leaders in our senior leadership team, ten (45%) are women and five (22.7%) are US leaders from one or more historically excluded ethnic and/or racial backgrounds.

Accessibility

At Netflix, we want to connect you to your next favorite story. We believe incredible stories should be enjoyed by all of our members, regardless of language, device, connectivity, or ability. We recognize the importance of representation on screen, and of the accessibility of our service. We also know that there is room for us to improve. We’re working with accessibility and disability advocacy groups, and regularly soliciting feedback from our members.

Making Our Apps and Devices Accessible

At Netflix, we believe that accessibility is just as important as aesthetics, speed and stability. That’s why we offer features like assistive listening systems, brightness controls, keyboard shortcuts, screen readers and voice commands. We also conduct research with current and prospective members aimed at identifying barriers to perceiving, navigating, and interacting with Netflix, and designing solutions that remove those barriers. We take advantage of device-specific assistive technologies (e.g. features on Apple and Android platforms) as much as possible. We also create our own accessibility options, such as the ability to change the appearance of closed captions and subtitles on TV, and adjust playback speed on mobile.

Making Our Films and Series Accessible

We are continually expanding our catalog of titles with subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, and audio description for our members who are blind or visually impaired. All Netflix films and series support subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing for the language in which they were originally produced. Netflix members can browse titles with audio descrptions on our website, and can see titles with audio descriptions in our mobile apps by selecting “Audio Description” under the Categories menu.
