Berlin, September 15, 2026 – One woman. One duel. One trap.

Netflix releases the gripping trailer for the six-part psychological thriller miniseries The Trap – based on the bestselling novel by Melanie Raabe and brought to the screen by the team behind the International Emmy®-winning global series hit Dear Child, led by writer, director and creative producer Isabel Kleefeld.

The official trailer offers a first glimpse into a gripping cat-and-mouse game between hunter and hunted, in which the roles are never clearly assigned. Friederike Becht and Hans Löw draw viewers in from the very first second with their nerve-wracking performances. "Over several weeks, we really staged a duel – a fight my character prepared for meticulously, both mentally and physically," Becht says, describing the intense work on set. Cast and crew share more fascinating behind-the-scenes details from the shoot in the digital press kit.

Starting October 13, all six episodes will be available on Netflix for binge-watching!

About The Trap

Successful author Lisa Konrad (Friederike Becht) hasn’t left her house in nearly ten years, ever since she witnessed the murder of her sister Anna. But when she believes she recognizes the killer on television, she sets out to trap him — using herself as the bait.

The cast features Friederike Becht as bestseller author Lisa Konrad, alongside Hans Löw as journalist Robert Lenzen, Matthias Brandt as publisher Norbert Rudow, Anna Schudt as literary agent Pia, Miriam Ohlmeyer as novel character Sophie, Josephine Thiesen as Lisa Konrad’s sister Anna, Malaya Stern Takeda as Lisa’s assistant Yuma, Ursula Strauss as therapist Dr. Shelley Anger, Sesede Terziyan as investigator Narges Akbari, and Michael Klammer as investigator Leon Weber.

The six-part limited series is produced by Constantin Film's Tom Spiess and Friederich Oetker, who previously collaborated with writer, director, and creative producer Isabel Kleefeld on the hit Netflix series Dear Child. Dear Child was awarded at the International Emmy® Awards in the TV Movie / Mini-Series category.

Martin Langer (Kleo, Dear Child) serves as director of photography, with Cordula Jedamski (Family Affairs, Dear Child) heading production design. The score was composed by Oscar® winner Volker Bertelmann (All Quiet on the Western Front) together with Ben Winkler.
