Netflix has announced today the end of filming and the main cast of 53 Sundays, Cesc Gay (Sentimental, Truman). This new film adapts to the screen the play of the same name from the catalan director and that stars Carmen Machi (A Widow’s Game, Celeste), Javier Cámara (Rapa, Stories Not to Be Told), Javier Gutiérrez (The Asunta Case, Prison 77) and Alexandra Jiménez (Menudas piezas, The Innocent).
Production, which lasted a total of 30 days, took place mainly at the Netflix Production Center in Tres Cantos, as well as in several central locations in Madrid.
Three siblings get together to decide what to do with their 86‑year‑old father, who has started behaving in a very peculiar way. Should they move him into a nursing home? Have him live with one of them? What begins as a polite family meeting quickly spirals into a wildly funny and unexpected situation that soon gets completely out of control.
The film is produced by Imposible Films and has Marta Esteban and Laia Bosch as executive producers. 53 Sundays was written and directed by Cesc Gay himself, and will be available on Netflix soon.
