15 November 2016Here are some highlights from the October data for the Netflix ISP Speed Index, our monthly update on which Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide the best prime-time Netflix streaming experience.
In Mexico, Totalplay rose seven spots to No. 2 by significantly delivering an average monthly speed of 3.43 Megabits per second (Mbps) in October, up from 2.89 Mbps last month.
In Chile, Entel had a significant speed increase of 0.49 Mbps in October, raising its average monthly speed to 2.13 Mbps.
In Luxembourg, Visual Online jumped three spots to No. 2 with an average monthly speed of 4.06 Mbps, up from 3.84 Mbps in September.
In Spain, R moved up three spots to third place and improved its speed to 3.69 Mbps from 3.62 Mbps in September. Telefonica - Movistar’s ranking remained unchanged, but had a decline in average monthly speed to 2.00 Mbps in October, down from 2.47 Mbps in September.
India had a lot of momentum in October. YOU Broadband moved up four spots to No. 4 with an average monthly speed of 1.68 Mbps, up from 1.51 Mbps in September. ATRIA Convergence Technologies held its place at No. 3 while increasing their average monthly speed to 1.89 Mbps, up from 1.71 Mbps In September. Speed for Reliance Communications slowed to 1.57 Mbps from 1.63 Mbps, dropping it down 3 spots in October.
In Taiwan, FarEasTone and Hoshin both had significant speed improvements. FarEasTone increased its average monthly speed to 2.38 Mbps from 1.89 Mbps in September, and Hoshin climbed to 2.58 Mbps, up from 2.31 Mbps in September.
There was no major movement in the U.S. index in October.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Faster Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions.
