Netflix announced today Once, a new Chilean film produced by the audiovisual production company Fabula and directed by Pablo Larraín (El Conde, My Sad Dead)
Written by Larraín and the also renowned Chilean playwright Guillermo Calderón, the film marks the return of the celebrated director to Chilean cinema since his work on the acclaimed and award-winning 2023 film El Conde.
Brief synopsis: Through eleven intertwined stories, the film follows the 18 hours in which the 1973 coup d’état unfolded, culminating in the bombing of the official government building, La Moneda Palace, and the death of then-president Salvador Allende.
Cast: Marcelo Alonso, Octavia Bernasconi, Gabriel Cañas, Alfredo Castro, Roberto Farías, Fernanda Finsterbusch, Alejandro Goic, Camila Milenka, Valentina Muhr, Marcial Tagle, Lukas Vergara.
In this production, Pablo Larraín will work with Mexican director of photography Rodrigo Prieto (The Irishman, Silence, Killers of the Flower Moon and Pedro Páramo) and VFX supervisor Andrew Jackson, regular collaborator of Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer, Dunkirk, Tenet) for the first time. In addition, he is once again teaming up with the renowned Guy Hendrix Dyas as production designer, with whom he has already worked on some of his previous projects (Spencer, María).
