Jogging and porridge instead of pinball and after‑work beers? For Olli (Kostja Ullmann) it’s obvious: his best friend Matze (David Kross) has clearly been brainwashed by his new girlfriend Rebecca (Janina Uhse). Her disastrous influence is jeopardizing not only the male friendship but, above all, the world trip that Olli and Matze have been planning together for years, right down to the last detail.

So there’s only one solution: Rebecca has to be stopped! Together with his buddy Schmitti (Ferdinand Hofer), Olli goes on the offensive. But to everyone’s surprise, Rebecca also has a few tricks up her sleeve. The battle has begun …

With My Best Friend, His Girlfriend and I, director Marco Petry has wrapped production on his new Netflix comedy. The screenplay was written by him together with Janina Petry. The film was produced by Marcus Welke, Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann as well as Hannah Leuze as producer for the production company Wiedemann & Berg Film. Filming took place in Cologne.

Most recently, Marco Petry and Netflix scored a worldwide hit with the comedy Games Night, which was also produced by Wiedemann & Berg Film. The film spent weeks in the global charts and was streamed millions of times.

About My Best Friend, His Girlfriend and I

Olli and Matze have been inseparable since childhood. They now live together, work at the same real estate agency and are planning a joint world trip. The route is almost set when Matze falls head over heels in love with Rebecca. Rebecca is cool, but in Olli’s opinion she clearly takes up too much space in Matze’s life. Since when does he go jogging and eat porridge for breakfast? Normally it’s all about pinball and after‑work beers...

For Olli it’s clear: his best buddy is in the middle of a relationship brainwash! He needs to get Matze back on track as quickly as possible, or the trip might end up falling through. The battle begins, though Olli hasn’t counted on Rebecca’s quick wit. Who will come out on top here is uncertain – and the real question is: does there actually have to be a winner at all…?
